Memorial Wins National Design Award
The Northfield Area Veterans Memorial received national attention when it was named an award-winning design by the Monument Builders of North America (MBNA).
The memorial, which was dedicated on November 11, 2005, was selected from among more than 300 entries for the Biodan Stone Carver Trophy. The memorial’s architect, Jeff Anderson of Anderson Memorials, Inc., was presented with the award at the MBNA’s annual convention in February 2006.
Larry Turner, chairman of the Northfield Area Veterans Memorial Committee, said, “This is a great honor. Seeing the memorial dedicated after more than seven years of intense planning was a dream come true. Receiving a design award from an organization that appreciates the hard work of our committee, Jeff Anderson, the city of Northfield, and all of the residents and donors is the icing on the cake.”
